'Killers' Review

‘Killers’ Review

When presented with a film proudly stating “from the producers of The Raid” you’d expect it to be similar, but with Killers that thought would be wrong.  This isn’t a bad thing though, the subject matter makes up for it.  A psychological battle of wits between two serial killers from different backgrounds being drawn together through the lust for murder is an interesting concept, what will happen…

Only Lovers Left Alive DVD, Blu-ray & Steelbook Release Details

Only Lovers Left Alive DVD, Blu-ray & Steelbook Release Details

Not only was Only Lovers Left Alive warmly received by a critics and the public but it also brought some credibility back to the vampire movie.  Gone are the days of Twilight and back are the days of the “cool” vampire…and an undead Tom Hiddleston? I’m sure many won’t argue against that.  Here are the details of the UK September release on DVD, Blu-ray and limited edition steelbook.

New Intense Teaser for Foxcatcher

New Intense Teaser for Foxcatcher

Today we have a new teaser for Foxcatcher and if there is one word that I can think of to describe it, it’s intensity.  You can feel it building up, and you can also feel the conviction of the Steve Carell character John du Pont as he talks about his beliefs.  Is there an Oscar in Steve Carell’s future? We’ll have to wait and see but the usual hype around his performance seems to have that feel…

While the UK slowly wakes up and American sleeps Capcom has been showcasing some of their new content which will be coming soon.  Some of the most important updates (for horror fans) are of course the definitive version of Resident Evil and Resident Evil Revelations 2 which both have new trailers.  Resident Evil is set for a release on Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC early 2015.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 is also planned for early 2015 on the same consoles (and PC) and we’ll get to know more about this title in the near future.  Until then we have a live-action teaser trailer for it:

'Warrior King 2' Review

‘Warrior King 2′ Review

I don’t watch as many fighting movies as I’d like so when I got the chance to review Warrior King 2 I was at first happy.  I’m a Tony Jaa fan, especially because of Ong-Bak so when I watched this I had that movie in my mind as where the bar would be set.  Maybe that was unfair or not, but Warrior King 2 is a movie that has the best of intentions, but struggles to see them through.

'Extraterrestrial' Review

‘Extraterrestrial’ Review

Movies can be cryptic at times, we often make a decision on whether to watch them based on a poster we’ve seen or the trailer and that can be a mistake.  Sometimes some movies appear to be one thing but turn out to be different from what you expect.  Extraterrestrial starts with a UFO floating above a city, you’d expect there to be at least one alien right?

Takashi Miike’s Lesson of Evil Coming to DVD & Blu-ray in September

Takashi Miike’s Lesson of Evil Coming to DVD & Blu-ray in September

As a fan of Takashi Miike’s movies (and not only the horror) any mention of his name automatically catches my interest.  In Lesson of EvilMiike is returning to the school setting, but unlike Crows Zero instead of focusing on teenage gangs this film is about the teacher from hell.  The trailer gives a hint of how extreme the film goes, so be ready for plenty of violence and gore.  Lesson of Evil…

'Doctor Who - Into the Dalek' Review

‘Doctor Who – Into the Dalek’ Review

Trust the Daleks to give Doctor Who a wakeup call, and for me to be torn on whether I liked Into the Dalekor not.  Last week I noticed little attempts to rewrite the history of the Doctor, and while it bugged me I let it go, but it happened again this week and this time I couldn’t let it pass.  You can’t create the basic rules for a show and then try to change them…or I guess you can and hope…

'WWE: Brothers of Destruction' Review

‘WWE: Brothers of Destruction’ Review

As a horror fan I’ve always liked the wrestlers with the darker sides.  The Undertaker and Kane are two wrestlers who have had a certain mystique and managed to get away with the more silly story lines featuring the supernatural.  For the most part though their destructive force has been more of an importance to their fans.  WWE: Brothers of Destruction provides a few of their best matches in…

'Cuckoo - Complete Series 1' Review

‘Cuckoo – Complete Series 1′ Review

A cuckoo is a bird that lays its eggs in other bird’s nests, so in human form it’s easy to assume that the Cuckoo is another man moving into a family’s home and encroaching on the territory of the parents.  In Cuckoothe BBC comedy it’s not only about the family but also an American comedian going head to head with a British one.  When these comedians are Andy Samberg and Greg Davies the results…

New Poster for The Judge Featuring Robert Downey Jr. & Robert Duvall

New Poster for The Judge Featuring Robert Downey Jr. & Robert Duvall

In the new poster for The Judge the first thing you notice is the pained face of Robert Downey Jr.  then right behind it you see the grumpy Robert Duvall…quite a combination.  One of those movies about a father and son reconnecting, while the son is trying to defend his father in a murder trial, I’m sure it’ll be one of those that tries to pull at your heartstrings.
