Paul Thomas Anderson is one of those directors that just has to be named on the poster and you’ll want to see the film, he is that kind of talent. Looking at the movies he has made Boogie Nights, Magnolia, There Will Be Blood and The Master just shows the quality of films that he has made. Now we have the teaser trailer for Inherent Vice and I think you’ll agree this is going to be a must watch.
Today we have the poster and trailer for Extraterrestrial, a new film by The Vicious Brothers. From the trailer it’s obvious that they aren’t coming in peace…oh and having Michael Ironside in the trailer just adds a little awesome in there. Extraterrestrial is in cinemas in the UK October 29th just in time for Halloween.
Prepare to get your fears probed as the brilliant Vicious Brothers (Grave Encounters) bring the ‘Scare-filled’* and ‘Extra-terrifying’** EXTRATERRESTRIAL to UK cinemas this Halloween!
Still reeling from her parents divorce, April (Brittany Allen, Defiance, Dead Before Dawn) is dragged back to the vacation cabin she spent fond summers at as a child accompanied by a group of friends. Her trip down memory lane takes a dramatic and terrifying turn when a fireball descends from the sky and explodes in the nearby woods. Lead by her boyfriend (Freddie Stroma Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince, Pitch Perfect), the group venture out toward the crash site and discover the remnants of a ship from another planet along with footprints that suggest its alien occupants are still alive. The college friends soon find themselves caught in the middle of something bigger and more terrifying than they ever thought possible.
EXTRATERRESTRIAL is a slick teen shocker with out-of-this-world scares and brutal surprises for Halloween!
EXTRATERRESTRIAL is at UK cinemas for Halloween from Wednesday 29th October 2014

I learnt from watching Audition that you never take Takashi Miike movies at face value, he won’t let you. That movie was my introduction into the twisted world of the director, and this is the reason he has quickly become one of my favourites. From horror to gangsters, historical and even school movies like Crows Zero he shows a flexibility and an ability to bring fun to his work, while also…
When movies are made from popular children’s television characters there always seems to be that need to create some adult humour to sneakily hide behind the child safe story in order to keep the adults entertained too. Now Postman Pat has made this leap there is definitely an intent to appease the Postman Pat fans who have grown up a little, but the question is did Postman Pat: The Movieforget…
I am a Doctor Who fan, I want to like every episode I watch but sometimes this just isn’t the case. Last week when I watched the teaser for The CaretakerI was worried, and having now watched it I was right to be, but also wrong because in truth it wasn’t that bad. My problem with Doctor Who right now is the fact that I’m still trying to get used to the Danny Pink character and the dating…

Adventure is a gaming genre that tends to survive, even if people think it dead a long time ago. With the resurgence in popularity because of the success of the Telltale Games like The Walking Dead the point and click adventures have tended to hide in the shadows. It’s been the more independent game companies that have fought the good fight to keep them available for the fans. One of these companies is Nordic Games with The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 developed by KING Art. Now in Early Access on Steam does it do enough to keep the adventure fresh?
Born out of a Kickstarter campaign to bring a sequel of The Book of Unwritten Tales to life the sequel is as bright and beautiful as the previous two games (The Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles being the other one). With jokes that do poke fun at the genre as well as the fantasy setting it also keeps everything light, and Wilbur, Ivo, Nate and Critter are likable characters that you do care about. This means that every box is ticked really, if you are a fan of the point and click adventure this will keep you interested.
As with the previous games if you press the space bar you do get a hint as to what is clickable in the locations that you are in, but the puzzles can be quite hard to get past at times. There is no spoon-feeding in the game so you are left to work out what you need and to go find them. Personally I like this and prefer to not have my hand-held as much during a game, but it is possible to get stuck for some time if you don’t take notice about what you are doing. It is a linear story of course so the answer is there you just have to find it.
As is expected with point and click adventure games there really isn’t much that pushes the genre into the next generation of gaming but what can we expect really? Yes, Telltale Games pushes the idea of more emotion in the game, but do we always want to feel exhausted after every chapter? Sometimes it is better just to have a laugh at the self-referential jokes like in The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 and have your mind challenged occasionally. That isn’t me showing hate against Telltale Games though because as you will see on this site I am a big fan of their games.
As this is an Early Access game on Steam and it is still in development it’s not fair to actually give it a review score, but for the people who have funded the game and for fans of adventure games in general The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is a welcome addition to the long list of adventure games out there. There are people who still like the good old-fashioned point and click adventure and seek out games like this, so it’s good to see that games like The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 are still in development.

Today we have a new poster for The Imitation Game which features Benedict Cumberbatch actually looking forward this time. As before the importance is put on the man (Alan Turing) rather than the code itself, as it is he that was so special…and he that became a victim of the times. The Imitation Game will be in UK cinemas November 14th.

We live in an age where online providers are throwing television shows at us to get interest. Netflix and Amazon are the two main forces in this battle and in my opinion we should love them, shows that may not make it onto television are championed by them and provided to us with the hope that we take notice of them. Transparent is a show that is taking this risk and wants you to give it a…

I’m never sure about movies based on the so-called “Rapture”, all the good people went to heaven to leave the bad ones behind to live through hell on earth? This is the End was fun, but it still worked by the idea that to be saved from the hell of being non religious you have to do good things of you get to rot…but oh well. Without over thinking the whole horror based on religion thing, look Th…
For the more technical minded usually a movie about hackers fills us with dread. Blackhat…Whitehat…Denial of Service Attacks…blah blah blah, do you think it matters if we know what it means or not? Not really, just that this is a big action movie with explosions, guns and Chris Hemsworth. Blackhat is making its way to UK cinemas February 20, 2015. Now I want to watch Hackers again.
Set within the world of global cybercrime, Legendary’s Blackhat follows a furloughed convict and his American and Chinese partners as they hunt a high-level cybercrime network from Chicago to Los Angeles to Hong Kong to Jakarta.
Directed and produced by Michael Mann, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Viola Davis, Tang Wei and Wang Leehom, and it is written by Morgan Davis Foehl and Mann. Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni produce alongside Mann, while Alex Garcia and Eric McLeod serve as the executive producers.
